The Left and the mainstream media (BIRM) have been waiting for an anti-Trump/anti-GOP cascade preference to develop. They've done just about every thing they can to urge it along. And it just hasn't. I will also note Trump has damaged his own causes on repeated occasions, while the GOP in Congress continues to prove the profound observation of P. J. O'Rourke: "The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it."

The risk that the Left/MSM face is a 'snap back' effect. If Trump and the GOP can actually get their respective and collective acts together, I think the Left may face the horror of steadily rising approval ratings for Trump (as Scott Adams keeps predicting), and the Dems may make little headway in regaining either the House or the Senate in 2018.

A local TV political political expert spent 10 minutes spinning how magnificent a candidate Ossoff showed himself to be, and warning that since the absentee ballots were out, it was probably really only a 51/49 loss.

The San Francisco Dems must be planning on running Ossoff again, maybe in another state.

They probably would run better candidates if they had them but so far they do not

They did finally get engaged when it became a campaign issue.

From Wikipedia

On May 7, 2017, Ossoff's campaign confirmed he and his longtime girlfriend, Alisha, a former Georgetown schoolmate, are engaged.

No need for that now. It will be interesting to check back in a year and see if they ever actually tied the knot. Or it would be if anyone ever gave a fuck about Jack Ossoff.

Yancey Ward said...

Big Mike points out something I had noticed a lot in the last week- all the stories about how it was the most expensive House race ever, but almost all of the stories somehow failed to point out the vast disparity in expenditures. How do you even spend 40-45 million dollars and lose a House race? You could outright bribe enough voters put you over the top.

My guess is that after the first 2-3 million, every million you spend on advertising has net negative value- you just turn people off after they have seen your campaign ad the first 5 times.

I live in East Tennessee, and from August to November, on the local stations, I probably saw Hillary Clinton ads at least 4 or 5 times a day on average. I saw exactly one Trump television ad the entire time- the 2 minute ad he started running in late October, I think, and I saw it on tv only twice. Here in Oak Ridge, I saw only 2 Trump/Pence yard signs. There weren't a lot Hillary signs, but at least 10 times as many I did see, and Clinton won the bumper sticker in a shut out in the campaign season- I never saw a single Trump/Pence bumper sticker the entire campaign. I eventually saw one in February, but not another since.

I am starting the question the expenditure of campaign funds on paid advertising- doesn't seem to have a positive return.

“Horrible. Unbelievable. Devastating,” Michelle Litton, an Ossoff supporter, told BuzzFeed News. “It just goes on and on, ever since Trump won it just feels like, you gotta be kidding me. While not a majority, Trump has developed a large base of support that he has convinced to go along with his politics of resentment. Is that a governing strategy? So, far it does not look like it. But we will see.

Once written, before I answer, is there any point in engaging you seriously? Are you prepared to engage seriously? Because I'd rather not waste my time with someone who isn't prepared to engage seriously.

The Dems have concocted a phony Russian-Collusion story. They are trying to ride it towards a House win in 2018, and a Trump impeachment.

But that dog ain't hunting.

I don't know what she is worried about.

The Dems always campaign to the center and govern to the left or far left. The Republicans campaign to the right and always govern in the middle or to the left of center.

PBJ, you often do this thing where you have nothing to say yourself, but only insert links.

Since you don't bother to use the a href syntax, they're not clickable. So I never follow them and I doubt most people do unless they're fooled by your earnest demeanor. In other words I'm guessing nobody ever follows them.

Why don't you actually say something yourself? What am I saying, keep on going the way you're going.

Ossoff talked a centrist game because he wasn't running in Pelosi's district. If he had been more openly leftist, he would have lost by a huge margin.

If Dems think moving more to the left is going to help them - well, good luck with that.

Trump is going to feel even more emboldened to push beyond our country's political and legal norms. It will be fascinating to watch how it plays out.

BTW, continental Europe sees for the first time since the end of the Second World War the opportunity to take back the reins and be the leaders of the western world. They are doing so at the expense of Great Britain (which will be just England once Scotland and Northern Ireland break off) and Trump led America.

How will Trump respond to this?

Hey, I'm happy. Rene Saunce is happy. And we know the winner of the election, Karen Hughes is happy. It will be interesting to see the gender breakdown of the voters. I'll bet there are lots of happy women in that district tonight.

Same way he responded to the Paris accords. With one sentence Trump turned Merkel into a paper tiger and destroyed the illusion that Germany is anything more than a regional power.

ontinental Europe is currently experiencing a slow suicide by stupidity. All we have to do is wait them out. They can't even protect their women and children. Because that would be islamaphobic.

What Trump needs to do is identity the political philosophy that cut off Europe's balls, and exterminate it back here in America.

I didn't intend to open this line. But, even though, in truth, I haven't been to one in more than 18 months, and even then it's essentially an annual event, the variability of the management of TBs is extremely annoying, imho.

I know of one that stuffs a taco w/ plenty of ingredients and also is efficient re the drive thru.

And, I know of one that feels like torture in the drive thru (because of the slowness) and they once gave me the so-called premium tacos w/ nothing but lettuce in a shell. WTF? They said nothing, e.g., 'sorry we ran out of meat (or pink slime) and cheese and tomatoes and sour cream.' I assumed they were Fing w/ me cause I'm was in an F--not Ford.

Haters.

Ossoff $250/vote
Handel $30/vote

There's a lesson here. If given $250 dollars the average Democrat buys $200 worth of crystal meth and a $50 whore. After exhausting himself in depravity he sleeps through election day. If given $30 the average Republican fuels his pickup and drives to the polling place.

It seems it is a lesson that must be learned over and over. The local "Moe's" was great with the first staff & management, then both turned over and it went into the pit. It's hard to ruin a good concept like "Moe's", but you can do it if you stop wiping the tables, run out of important stuff like lettuce (and don't tell the customer until they've started the order), make the rice crunchy and forget how to make the burritos spread out correctly (so that it is consistent throughout, not one bite all rice, one bite all guac, one bite all beans etc). Same with "Wendy's". WHen they came to town in the 70s, you could get a great burger, customized from scratch almost as fast as you could walk through, then they took their eyes off the prize. Franchasise owners -- you've got to get good managers. Managers -- you've got to let someone who can't roll a burrito go.
